Assembly Square Mall

The Assembly Square Mall project consisted of the acquisition of a bankrupt 350,000-square-foot retail shopping center in Somerville, Massachusetts, about 3 miles from downtown Boston with an additional 26 acre developable land parcel, and was acquired as a unique redevelopment opportunity. Taurus redeveloped the existing mall, negotiated all of the leasing and managed construction of approximately 300,000 square feet of the new retail build-out for national retail tenants such as TJ Maxx, Bed, Bath & Beyond, The Christmas Tree Shops, Staples and Sports Authority.

In addition, Taurus performed all the permitting and zoning activities in the notoriously difficult state of Massachusetts, and was successful in getting development approval for approximately 3 million square feet of additional retail, once, and residential space on the adjacent 26 acres of land, allowing the project to be sold in 2005 to a REIT after a 7-year hold period.
